I can't remember where I heard this conversation, but it was recent: Person 1: I hear Barbara Walters won't take the elevator with other people. Like, she'll let everyone else get on and then get a private one all for herself. Person 2: I bet it's because she farts in there. |

reading this in an otherwise boring law book totally made my day:
"It has been judicially noticed that the two considerations which weight most strongly with average persons are the ties of love and affection and financial considerations; that the majority of old persons chafe under the regulated security of a home for the aged; that a body of water is an attractive spot to children as well as grownups, especially in hot weather; and that the amount of persuasion necessary to induce a person to act against his will depends entirely on the individual." -from Fisch on Evidence |

ok, i think it's time for an update. so i graduated and i moved to brooklyn and i'm studying for the bar. i don't have a job yet but i'm crossing my fingers. my hair is finally long enough to put in an honest-to-god bun-type thing, which is kind of a new experience and i'm enjoying it. it's way long and goes past my shoulders and finally makes the weird waviness of my hair look intentional, i think. i like brooklyn for the following reasons: (a) i like the word "brooklyn" (b) i like having a garden (c) i like not paying manhattan rent anymore (d) i'm slightly closer to coney island than i was before. ok, so news: i'm going backpacking "across" europe in august, which really means i'm taking a train from france to italy and then flying into and out of london in one 24-hour period. but hey, two weeks, three countries, i'm excited. all other exciting kat action is taking place in my other livejournal, so yeah. that's about it. |

i've been drinking liters of mineral water lately and i feel so much better. also, super fluffy white egyptian cotton towels elevate my mood like some sort of linen-closet paxil. even sitting through class isn't so bad when i know i can go home to my towels! i think taking pleasure in things, even stupid things, is so important. it makes me feel like i have a handle on life. there's nothing i like more than having a clean room, clean apartment, clean clothes. it's just that things keep piling up. but when everything is sort of clean in harmony, i'm really happy because i feel like i accomplished something. |

home for turkey day. i wish it was turducken day, actually. i'm actually really excited for the whole "holiday season." i can't wait for christmas and peppermint hot chocolate (well, i haven't been *waiting* for that...) and scarves and snowboots and snow! and presents and little teeny strings of lights and the rockefeller center christmas tree and the store windows on fifth avenue and all of the wonderful cheesy stuff that i enjoy so much. today my mom was all, what do you want for christmas? and i was like, i want an ipod! and she was like, really? i actually just won one the other day and your brother and your father didn't want it, so it's yours. holy crap! i swear, my mother has some serious luck... tomorrow, i'm looking forward to lots and lots of RUTABAGA!! my favorite root vegetable. |
